A judge told a driver she displayed "moronic stupidity" by deliberately and repeatedly blocking an ambulance which was carrying a dying patient.

She should have been charged with a lot more.

She should spend a lot more time in jail.

8O That's frickin' terrible! She got off easy with only 5 months in the slammer... definitely should have been more.

Stupid broad. Did she not recognise that flashing lights and a siren are an indication of an emergency taking place? She got off with very little as far as punishment goes.

It pisses me off when I see people seemingly oblivious to emergency vehicles coming up behind them. They just drive along in their own world and not make any effort to get the hell out of the way for a few seconds to let the ambulance or fire truck pass.

She is not alone.. the ambulance drivers can tell you about people not getting out of the way.. or moving to the side of the road.. or just blocking the road.. fine them and take their license for 6mos..

We keep a pad of paper in our rescue truck, so we can jot down license plate numbers of those who really slow us down, then hand them to the RCMP. Whether anything happens, I don't know.

We actually had a guy pass us going up a hill in the passing lane after we had already passed him going to a call Code 3. It's those people who bitch about emergency services taking too long to respond when it's them who need our help.

It's not that she's a moron, what I gathered from the article was that they were intentionally slowing the vehicle down, based on gestures and facial expressions.

I hope the RCMP at the very least send a written warning to the licenced owner of the vehicle. As if your job isn't difficult enough without dealing with jerks like this.

One of the worst examples I've witnessed of ignorant drivers was when I was waiting to walk across a busy intersection. An ambulance was coming eastbound on one street and all traffic at the intersection came to a halt. One asshole decided he "had time" to drive southbound across the intersection so proceeded to do so right in the path of the ambulance. Thank God the ambulance driver saw him at the last moment and swerved to avoid a collision. Asshole kept on going of course. At least if the worst had happened there would have been many witnesses to testify to see that jerk never drove again, unless of course his stupidity killed him!

I remember seeing a photo of a car parked in front of a fire hydrant.
The firemen broke the front windows on both sides of the car to pass the hoses. :)

That's the one! I love it, thanks. :)

    I'm with SprCForr's suggestion.
My brother-in-law's an ambulance technician in Montreal.
    I'm sure he'd agree too.
