A Vancouver Island MP hopes a parliamentary study into the implications of closing a Coast Guard communications station in Comox may convince the federal government to keep the station open.

    One must take into consideration redundancy. 442 SAR Squadron is also located in Comox and has a much greater capacity to respond to incidents. Believe we should keep the CG on the island but maybe more useful in a different location North or South

    No kidding eh?

    As I recall, when the previous Conservative Government announced future CCGS closures the Liberals and NDP were opposed to those plans.

    Obviously things have changed...
