A British interview with Robert Downey Jr. turned bad when U.K. journalist Krishnan Guru-Murthy asked the Avengers actor a question he didn't like.

I don't blame Robert Downey at al. This is very old history and he is one of the few Hollywood types that have managed to clean up their lives and do something productive.
This is something to be admired and not poked into with a cheap shot.

That interviewer guy reminds me of Martin Bashir.

Except all Bashir lost his job over was saying somebody should "shit in Sarah Palin's mouth".

What this guy said about Downey was actually worse. He called him a "Conservative".

Robert Downey Jr. is bullet-proof at the moment, because he's big box office, but if that changes, being known as right wing affects your employability in Hollywood. Robert Downey Jr. knows it. That's why he walked.

This is an open secret to Hollywood and British Progs, but the interviewer will get away with it, because the rest of us aren't supposed to know it. Being called conservative in Hollywood is worse than being called a child molester. If they thought they could make as much money using Roman Polanski as Iron Man, they'd do it.

The guy is flat out douche bag who's tired of covering A&E. Wants to prove he can move along to real journalism. The Duke would have flattened his nose.

Downey doesn't get in trouble with the media because he's conservative (allegedly). The so-called black mark against him is that he maintained his friendship through thick and thin with Mel Gibson, who is still Hollywood's public enemy number one for the anti-Semitic ranting he did a few years back during that DUI arrest. Those perverse fuckers in Hollywood will forgive almost everything, no matter how hideous or disgusting it is, but not for Mel Gibson. If Downey's career ever gets derailed, which they can't do to him now because thanks to Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes he's bulletproof for the moment, it'll be from what the sick fucks in that evil town consider as guilt by association with Gibson and not from any mayhem that Downey might have committed.

I still maintain that this thing below was the worst sin Downey could have committed in a moral dungheap like Hollywood. If they bring him down one day it'll be because of this, not for anything that happened during his drug-fuelled rampages.

There's a point to be made that Mel Gibson's "Greatest Sin" was not being politically correct.

    Mel Gibson's Greatest Sin

You know...like not being "Progressive" enough.

Being conservative and a good actor/box-office success (e.g. Charlton Heston, Clint Eastwood, Bruce Willis) makes one part of the filmmaking community with not many grudges causing damage to the career. Being conservative and an abysmally shitty actor/box-office failure (e.g. Kirk Cameron, Kevin Sorbo) though? Nah. Just on the 'quality' of what those kind of guys create they deserve every bit of failure and rejection they get.
