I had thought this was hockey related, but it turns out it was completely random. 8O

Probably not. There are some strange hockey parents out there.

It's a sad comment on some people's behaviour when one can legitimately believe until informed otherwise that, great, now the goddamn parents got so upset at the kid's game that they're now trying to kill each other in the parking lot. :|

Probably yes. And there was a time I refereed kids hockey, and I quit because of the parents. 'Strange' is a little too light.

A Surrey hockey coach who knows the family told CBC News the attack was an attempted robbery gone wrong and the woman is in hospital on life support with her husband at her side, but she is not expected to survive.

"This woman is so nice it's just ridiculous. So many people in our association know this family and what this family is all about," said coach Darwyn Shawara.

I know lots of guys who volunteer like you. They all say the same thing. Soccer isn't much better. I'm a Scouting volunteer and even there, some of the parents are domineering bullies. I suppose that they have always been there but the sense of entitlement with this generation of parents is completely out of control. Scout volunteers are treated like employees and some of the parents DEMAND better service. When you gently point out the collective, contributory nature of Scouting, they usually back off ... but NEVER offer themselves up as volunteers. Why hob-nob with the servants. eh?

It was actually the threat of violence against me, and parents getting violent towards other kids that made me quit. Which is why I immediately thought this is how this lady was injured so badly - in a hockey related argument. (Sorry mom and dad, little Johnny probably doesn't have a chance in the NHL. Especially with parents like you! see: Walter Gretzky)

Strangely, refereeing motor sports doesn't come with the same level of angry parents that Hockey does.

this woman was robbed in the parking lot....there is no connection to the sport. It`s more a comment about how scuzzy Surrey is

That's the bottom line in this case.

From what I read, it was suggested that she was severely beaten with a heavy object (rock?). Probably done by some gutter dwelling POS that can only dream of being half the human being this woman was. All for the contents of her purse, god damn tragedy.

According to the news, they just took her off life support.

I hope the inhuman piece of human shit that did this dies the horrible, lingering and painful death they so well deserve.

    RIP good lady.

It takes a special kind of coward to beat a female (who was waiting for her son) to death for the contents of her purse. I hope when the cops catch this piece of shit he resists and the cops have to clobber the living shit out of him.

Rest in Peace. What a senseless act.
