    I think I've mentioned I have a friend who was flooded out of an apartment in June. She returned recently (while still paying rent!) to find all the drywall so mouldy that people can't stay anywhere on the floor for longer than 10 minutes without having their throat burn. :( The property manager says they can have the drywall washed in 6 months. 8O

    They will be $627 a month for one adult up to just over $1,200 for a family of four.

    For ATCO crap shacks? Are they loony?

    I've got five gallons of gasoline that says the drywall can be replaced sooner. :idea:

    From the article;

    The rent is intended to offset about 10 per cent of the provinces operating costs for accommodations, meals, utilities, TV and other services.

    Homeowners can apply to have rental costs covered under the provinces Disaster Recovery Program.

    Actually, it sounds pretty fair to me, especially when they can get it re-imbursed down the road.

    Having been inside many ATCO crap shacks, and knowing how far $1200 can go as far as rent and utilities, I beg to disagree.

    I suggested that very thing. I think she's back using someone's spare room for now, looking at a new apartment in a market with next to zero vacancy.
