French authorities are investigating whether the stabbing of a soldier in a Paris suburb was a copycat attack after a soldier was killed in London on Wednesday.

Maybe those soldiers shouldn't wear their uniforms in public in order to keep the delightful new citizens from getting so upset.

I seem to recall that during my time with 1 RCR (when they were still in in London Ontario) that we were told to not wear our jump smocks for a time because the unit had received complaints as the look was too "aggressive". I suspect that the complaints came from the UWO as we use to also get disparaging remarks (infrequently) shouted at us as we ran through the grounds during PT. This is the look that they did not like.

I mentioned elsewhere that that happened in Victoria during the first Gulf War. There was some very ugly public reaction to the war with body bags being left on the lawns of deployed sailors and conflict between sailors in uniform and civilians (students and professional protestors mostly)

As a Western grad, accept my apology... I walked out of a class where we were discussing WWI poetry and some individual began calling out all Canadian soldiers past and present as worthless slime... I reminded him he was in a building with the names of volunteer Western students killed in the World Wars from this very faculty on memorial plaques near the main entrance.

During my time there the views espoused by some of the profs and left-leaning students made my skin crawl.

Cheers from a Mustang who would be happy to have had PT through the campus.

For shits and giggles, I took a course in university that studied peace movement since the Crimean War. They brought in a guest speaker that explained how the US military forced its soldiers to watch pornography in boot camp to teach them to hate women. I happened to be sitting to an ex US Marine taking the course with me. Between the pair of us, we rather took the old bitch to task.

No wonder some of the students coming out of that place were fucktards.

It always amazed me that the anti-military crowd always thought they knew what we did in training, and tried to pass it off as truth, without spending as much as a single minute either in the military or even observing our training.

Read on another forum that apparently in the army, during basic, we were forced to shit in our helmets before doing a forced march.

I must have missed that day.
