An even better looking artificial reef. It's a double whammy for international security. An aviation and a maritime hazard.

Nice. Just don't lick it or expect it to last more than a year.

We may have to sink it someday if it doesn't sink on its own.

Good point. I have a funny feeling that there will be some shooting out of the Japan vs China thing.

There'll definitely be some provocation from the Chinese. It's been slightly more than 700 years since the Chinese last failed to use their navy against the Japanese Islands. The kamikaze took care of it then.

Always loved the look of carriers with the ski jump type flight decks. I know the design is redundant but it always gave the ships a type of Popeye look (the way Popeye's chin kind of bends back towards his nose).

For now the carrier has no operational aircraft and will be used for training.

That's one bloody expensive training ship. Without planes to do flight deck ops what kind of training are they going to do? Navigational?

As the Brits, they are masters of that:

Britain's aircraft carriers could be left without planes because of savage spending cuts, Defence Secretary Liam Fox said in an astonishing admission yesterday.
