"For the Canadian Ice Service, it means we're busier than ever because more and more ships want to go to the Arctic," she said. "Boats are popping up everywhere."

In the past, the Arctic summer saw only the coast guard and supply ships travel north to help remote communities stock up for the winter. Now, there are sailboats, motor yachts and cruise ships of all shapes and sizes.

We really need to get our asses and get ships up there to patrol and excercise our sovereignity
    over the area.

And get trade routes set up.

And the oil, before the Russians get it.

That'll happen a decade or two AFTER all the ice is gone. For all their rhetoric, politicians only give a shit about the North if they think it'll win them votes - which it doesn't.

Does this mean Ice Road Truckers will be pulled from History Television?

Well, that wiould require the right wing to admit that the ice is receding. That may be a while. Like when it's gone.

Fuck dude, this is 2012. You don't need to go through all that trouble. You just let us claim it, find it, get everything set up and then you BUY it. Half the country would take as little as possible and think at least they didn't just invade and steal it...
