Good. I see no reason to be masked if your intention is peaceful protest. I've been to many protests, and it is my constitutional right to peacefully assemble to protest.

Seems unconstitutional to me. Wearing a mask while perpetrating a crime so you hide your identity is one thing, but banning people from wearing them during lawful activities seems like a police state.

People have been protesting for years without masks, so there is no need
for them to do it now if they are engaged in lawful activities.

It's not required gear or anything.

Besides, Quebec has broken the Constitution many times already, nothing new.

Well, there have been numerous reports of police putting peaceful, lawful protestors on watch lists, so I would say it may be a necessity in todays world.

The key issue here is a person's legal rights. If you catch someone in a protest committing a crime with a mask, add a new charge. But don't take away another right, and make some other random act illegal for everyone because they may do something bad just because they happen to be in a group.

Ever consider being at a protest turning into a riot with criminal activities happening might be illegal in itself ?

Honestly, if you feel your cause is morally justified to employ violence of any kind, then I would hope you had the courage of your convictiions to show your face.

I can only assume you didn't read my many quoted from Ghandi? I do not condone violence, especially as a form of protest. So yes, I always conduct myself at a protest as if I were walking into a bank.

So by that logic no one can ever exercise their right to protest because of the possibility that some idiot there may start a riot? I guess the same thing should be said for every sporting event that has ever taken place, or concert, or hey even long lines at the subway station...

Andy wa right - this place is ripe with Toewsing.

You've taken the act as it is happening (rioting) changing a protest to an illegal activity and carried out a legal leap of logic tantamount to cliff diving to say that one can never protest then?

    Interesting.

A riot is not a lawful activity. That's what the law is about. Not peaceful manifestations.

If they feel so passionate about their protest why are they afraid of showing their faces?

Is that they do not want mummy and daddy to see them then cut off their trust funds? (hypocrites)

Show your face! What are you afraid of?

    I approve this ban.

Dealing with NATO protesters now here in Chicago.
