A Vancouver Island pet owner could face cruelty charges after the rescue of seven puppies and a mother dog so malnourished they were eating rocks and sticks to stay alive.

Those responsible for the condition of these animals should be hunted down and shot. Assholes like this should be made to suffer the same as the animals in their care suffered, these assholes would never have another animal in their care if I had any say......bastards would be dead and buried!

Godamned so-called "owner" had better be charged with cruelty. They should have to pay ALL costs associated with bringing these neglected dogs back to being the healthy dogs they deserve to be. How anyone could possibly not provide for their pets is beyond me. This is clearly someone who should never even be allowed to have any pet of any kind ever.

She discovered the starving animals by accident while responding to another complaint in the neighbourhood.

Makes you wonder how many other cases like this there are going on in Canada.

Probably more than I could handle hearing about

It's bad enough when cases like this are brought to the public's attention. Makes me so damn mad that I guarantee I would totally freaking lose it if I ever came face-to-face with someone who could do this to their pet. You'd be reading about me in the news.

Pets are a responsibility, not merely a material thing that you toss out in the yard.

I don't want to ever find myself discovering someone doing this because I would never get to see my dog again.

Unfortunately, there are too many people that think like that!

Nothing new here this story reminds me of dogs I've seen years ago while working on fly in reservations. :(

Although I think you're far to kind to these assholes.

At a minimum they should be fed alive to the animals they've let starve and for a laugh we could have it on put on the net so any other abusers would have second thoughts about taking that path to hell.

The only difference is these aren't "reservation" dogs from Little Bumfuck Lake, Northern Saskatchewan. These dogs are from Ladysmith on Vancouver Island, a relatively urban setting, the mother's idea of being "in the wild" is probably a walk in the park or being able to run on the beach. No matter the setting it's still the responsibility of the owner to make sure they are properly cared for.
