Following a long flight from India to Toronto, Sweetie � a three-year-old mixed-breed dog � and her seven new puppies won�t have to deal with cruel treatment anymore.

    I still don't get it... in a country where we put down I don't know how many dogs a year because we can't find enough people to adopt them, we have to import more of them.

    Probably breeds that are harder to acquire in the region that had a decent demand. Most of the puppies we put down would be from breeders that only look at the profit, they don't see that if you breed an animal and fail to sell the offspring that the unsold ones are living animals, they are simply a failed sale and shipped off.

    If you breed an animal you should be willing to keep the untaken offspring, hell, even make that a law.
