President Barack Obama held a White House meeting Saturday with the Dalai Lama, a fellow Nobel Peace Prize laureate, hours after China called on the U.S. to rescind an invitation that could sour relations with Beijing.

The POTUS can speak with any religious figure that he cares to, If the PRC is distressed by this that is unfortunate.

Those will help but there eventually comes a time that while the spirit is still willing, the flesh is spongey and bruised.

If we were to tell PRC President Hu that we would be miffed if he talked to Kim Jong Ill he would tell Obama to F off in a hurry as it is none of our business who that want to talk with and they would be right.

If Obama wants to talk to the Dali Lama, Steven Harper, UK PM Cameron, Jack Layton, ect that is his business. China needs to take a pill.

    What about

China blasts Canada for Dalai Lama reception (SEPTEMBER 7, 2006)
The Conservative government, which has angered China on several fronts since assuming power in January, is sending at least two senior government representatives to Vancouver Saturday -- over China's objections -- to honour the Dalai Lama's visit to Canada.

    And

"As an honorary citizen of Canada, (I'm) very happy to receive some of our parliamentarians," said the Dalai Lama outside the secluded home of university president. Parliament declared him an honorary citizen in June, 2006.
    ...
"All over Canada, (we have) many, many friends, so I want to express my deep appreciation," said the 14th Dalai Lama, who is on a week-long tour of the United States, his first foreign trip since a Chinese crackdown in Tibet.

"They are supporters not only of the Tibetan issue but also are supporters of the human rights issue, as well as religious freedom and freedom of expression."

If the US keeps pissing off their communist creditors in China, they may find out that getting a larger debt ceiling is the least of their worries.

It may a western ideal to think that your creditors can't control your actions and that you can snub your nose at them, but the US might find out the reality is something completely different.

So, this might just be the needed wakeup call needed for other democratic governments to see the problems that arise from overspending and having to sell your country out to a Communist or foreign investor just to cover those mounting debts and since Canada isn't owned by the PRofC we could tell them to fuck their fist while the US must be a little more diplomatic.
