The federal government says that it's preparing to table legislation that would compel striking Air Canada staff back to work, if the air carrier and the union can't agree to a deal.

Companies of national importance can be controlled by country in every time that is necessary.

IIRC, there were still some gov't "controls" on A.C. after privatization specifically to cover this particular contingency.

Canadian Pacific Railway isn't a federally owned company and have been legislated back to work as well. Seems to work that way with transportation companies...........yet the post office doesn't seem to be worthy of back to work legislation.

Questioning conservative government involvement in a unionized protest, is a right wing thing? :?

Questioning government intervention in a private domain is a right wing thing.

It's government intervetion in a private domain, to stop a socialist protest, allowing a private buisness to function as a buisness. Questioning a right wing move does not make one automaticly right wing.

Who gets to legislate the Legislaters back to work?

There was no need for government to be this heavy handed but it's a move that doesn't surprise me at all coming from a business friendly CPC government. I'm just surprised Canada post hasn't been hit with back to work legislation yet.

I think it's because not enough people really care, I have far less junk mail then before; if it wasnt for my hydo/gas bills and government mail I wouldnt get anything useful from Canada Post.

I no longer receive any mail. All bills come through emails. I don't even go get my mail anymore.

Probably because the Cons are looking for an excuse to privatize it.

You don't privatize a dying business in a dying industry. You put it out of its misery altogether.
