South Africa's programme to prevent HIV in babies has achieved a 96.5 percent success rate in wiping out transmission from infected pregnant mothers, the Medical Research Council said Thursday.

    AIDs in Sub Saharan Africa is being systematically wiped out, and in many ways, much credit goes to GW Bush.

    Also education on the subject matter, the growing power of evangelicalism, and investment in health care infrastructure have all combined to drive the disease further into the abyss.

    However, it's making an unwelcome comeback in Eastern Europe, especially Russia. A country such as Russia cannot afford an AIDs epidemic.
