Easy fix. Elections Canada doesn't release any info until voting is finished accross Canada. BAM!
Agreed. Except they'd have to not even count the votes before the polls were closed, because somebody would talk. So what if the results come in a bit later - Canada will abide.

Nice idea, but too many security gaps. Consider this - if you need a computer to vote, and voting is a right then someone has to give you a computer.
I like the idea, and think it could be done. There is just no political will to enable the voters whom they count on to abstain.

It doesn't necessarily have to be done from home. Just use computers at a polling station. Still makes tabulating the results a lot faster.
Personally I like the paper and pencil. We've certainly had way less problems than the US with their systems. (But paper and pencil has it's own problems for miscounting, losing ballot boxes, etc.) And so what if we have to wait a bit longer for the results if the votes aren't counted until all polls close.

Now you're scaring me. Electronic voting is a disaster so far. There needs to be a paper trail. I'd be okay with it if after you voted, it printed a ballot for you to put in the box. I don't trust my vote to a computer.

I don't think 'faster' should be a reason. They get tabulated pretty fast as is. Using computers at polling stations only increased the ease with which results can be hijacked.

I agree. But I also think for places like 'Dog Leg' Yukon, a portable iPod sized device that only does election stuff could also be useful.
