What this guy did was not a protest, but a wanton and unwarranted act of arson and vandalism.

    What a crock of shite.

The only time you see remorse from people like him are conviently, just before their sentencing hearings.

I hope they through the freakin book at him.

And he's also sorry that the mindless proles didn't rise up in support of his awesome act of, like, total courage. And he's sorry that the late 1960's ever had to end. And that the Soviet Union collapsed. And a few other things like that.

It's easy to regret after the fact and the looming criminal charges

A 58 year old retired beaurocrat?? Fuck his lawyer's reasoning that it was "out of character" for him. He's WAY old enough to know better..period!

    MrC. you said:
So it was a protest (because they made a specific point of it), and it wasn't done because they wanted to do unwarranted damage.

They brought gasoline and made molotov cocktails. Doing damage was intent and NOTHING else.
Do you normally bring flammables and explosive devices to peaceful protests MrC?

He stepped up and admitted guilt. He got three years. Pretty fair considering nobody got hurt and people get parole for assault with a weapon and a woman who killed a little girl DUI got 2 years.

And, he's an idiot, there's no cure for that.

Three years, he's lucky. He had no idea if anybody was in the building or not.
