Don't see where you get "religion" in this. :?

Honour killing has absolutely nothing to do with religion.

8O what 'honour' do you suppose is being restored with her blood then?

Today, Geetas family and friends have finally seen justice served, Det. Chief Insp. Howard Groves said in a release".

I seriously doubt that detective. These people have a propensity for escalting the violence proportional to the insult real or percieved that's been committed against them or their family.

If I was a member of Harpreet Singh Aulakh's family I'd be afraid...........very afraid.

You tell me, DD, is religion involved in honor killings or...

...is it misplaced pride (in Western values)
    ...or something else completely

    Another question...
...what would happen to the family if the honor killing was not carried out?

First off I was addressing to FOG. :D

    a) Non existant pride, ego and if your living among ingnorant peers, peer pressure.

    b) Nothing would happen to that family living in the UK. Maybe ostracised from their hardcore and I do mean extremely harcore social circle or/and family circle at worst.

Personaly I don't even see how this can be even classed as a honour killing. Most probably some dumb ass trying to take the quick way out of a lenghty and ugly divorce and not having to pay alimony and child support.

    I figured that out myself.
I'm not as dumb as my avatar makes me look. :D

    Thanks for the info.

Honor killings are about family honor. That the men are able to control women and keep them pure. This has nothing to do with Islam, it's a very old idea.

Andy Honour killings are not the sole property of ignorant Muslims. If you can class this case honour killing, these are Sikhs. I think the last case I think reported here on CKA was about buddist/hindu Sri Lankans

I'm well aware of that, since in BC we've had quite a number of honor killings perpetrated by Sikhs and none, that I'm aware of, by Muslims. But then Sikhs are here in droves, Muslims not so much.

Well, you'll have to ask Billy Pilgrim, since I was replying to his post.
