Such a nice completely open scam of our system.

Then the Libs and dippers will make sure it continues.

I say let them return to Sri Lanka, when they try to return to Canada make them apply for refugee status again.

Letting them go back I have no problem with. it's letting them backin once they have left is what I think is the problem. The ship should have been refuelled and resupplied and then escorted back out into international waters. While they were ashore, they should have been held in isolated internment camps on the Queen Charlottes.

The problem with the Reformacon bill is that it will only make it illegal for people who arrive en masse to go back home for visits. They're not doing anything about all the "refugees" that do it regularly - and not just Tamils. All refugeesm no matter how they got here, should be held in a camp for how ever long it takes for officials to thoroughly investigate their claim. Then they should be prevented from re-entering the country if they leave for 5 years.

I agree andy but at least its a start. Already the liberal left are frothing at the mouth on the government trying to stop more ships coming.

People don't seem to be aware that 25,000 refugees land at our airports every year, that's nearly a hundred a day, every day.

Every 5 days we get the equivalent of another Tamil ship landing at our airports. A large proportion of those are of a dubious nature (42% were refused in 2009).

I don't know why everybody, right and left, doesn't want to sort out this broken system.

If we can take 30,000 refugees a year, we should be looking at refugee camps across the world at the people in need of our protection that don't have the resources to buy a flight to YYZ.
What we are getting now are a lot of Third World cheats with ample cash to buy their way in, at the same time they are butting in front of legitimate refugees and immigrants.

Why don't Iggy and Jack etc see this? It's in all our interests to sort this shite system out.

It starts with a V, but I'm not sure how much sharper the Reformacon eyesight really is. They seem to be more about talk than action.

Right, compared to the libs and dips, who want to make sure things continue.

Refugee status means that in their country they are not in safety, so if they are coming back without any afraid "for holidays", It means that they are refugees only on papers, and I can't see any differences between simple legal emmigrants. If they were coming forever maybe they won't write "for holidays" in this topic. Or I don't understand something?

Well, at least the Tories are giving it a go. The Libs did nothing in fact worse than nothing.

"Jean Chrtien raised the Khadr case with the Pakistani prime minister at the time, Benazir Bhutto, and within weeks, Ahmed Said Khadr was released. He resumed his life, which he claimed was devoted to charity work in Afghanistan.

U.S. and Canadian Intelligence sources, however, identified Ahmed Said Khadr as a close associate of Osama bin Laden.

Now for the first time, members of the Khadr family admit that bin Laden and Ahmed Said Khadr were old friends."

I know. Kyle Keilburger (sp?) wrote about meeting Omar Kadhr in Pstan while both were waiting to meet with Chretien to plead for their (totally different) causes. They bonded about being young Canadian kids. It was when Ahmed was released that he took Omar for jihad training.

There was a picture of Chretien visting Khadr Snr in hospital in Pakistan but it appears to have been mysteriously removed from google searches. All that's left is a crop of Khadr in bed but I distinctly remember that photo as it annoyed me so much. Funny how it's vanished now....

    You understand perfectly.

The come, apply for refugee status, and before their status is confirmed, they leave back to their homeland for a visit and return to Canada. PDT_Armataz_01_19

Well, who can blame them. They have to look after their investments in their home country. The welfare we give them here doesn't go very far, you know.
