And why not? She was appointed by them, worked for their propaganda wing at the CBC, and has a seperatist for a husband.

Qualities that should make it quite easy for the Conservatives to extend her reign...........not.

Quite obviously Iggy still thinks it's the Liberal Parties mandate to appoint the GG so why should he suggest a successor.

    Pure arrogance.

Does the opposition usually get involved with the selection of the GG?

Who really cares who appointed her?

I think she did a really good job, so why not? Harper especially owes her a ton, after she accepted his request to prorgoue Parliament and not give the Opposition a chance to take over. If that doesn't show that she is not partisan, then I don't know what will.

Why not have Rick Hillier as the next GG. He has certainly earned it.

    Agreed.

Her term is up so the current government can put someone else in there.

Preferably could appoint someone that has served in the CF, such as Hillier or MacKenzie as suggested on another thread.

There is no reason not to extend her time as GG, she has done a great job and done the country proud. It would save some money as well... we wouldn't have to pay for the ceremonial crap and the moving expences and the redecorating of Rideau Hall... why go through all that shit again.

Even after Michelle Jean we would have to go through that 'crap' all over again anyways...comes with the position after all.

I wouldn't mind seeing her time as GG extended but there isn't a reason to either. She's done a very good job representing Canada but if there was another suitable replacement I wouldn't mind seeing someone new in the position.
