Even though the court martial of Capt. Robert Semrau in Gatineau, Que., is expected to last into June, so far theres little indication of sympathy or understanding of the pressures faced by a junior officer in a field command.

I think this whole trial is bullshit. It's not like the Taliban have signed any treaties with us about the treatment of wounded.

We are losing because we are trying to play the high and mighty card. Plus we are not dealing with the source of the problems.

If Capt. Robert Semrau is to be judged by others, then at least let him be judged by those who have been in combat and not sitting behind a desk.

 Apply that line of thinking across the board.

Police officers who commit crimes judged by police officers.

Corporate executives who commit crimes judged by corporate executives...

    etc.

The high and mighty card is the Geneva Convention and Canada has signed it. People who are so quick to want to ignore the Geneva Convention aren't all that much different from those who are ignoring it.

By the way, what in your obviously extensive experience and training has led you to believe we are losing?

Canada pulling out = we lost, we gave up we threw in the towel. No matter how you twist it, when it comes down to it Canada ran. Yes we pulled our weight yes we can kick ass. But in the end what matters is the end result, which is Canada calling it quits.

This idiocy of assigning Geneva Convention rights to those who 1) are not soldiers and who 2) do not reciprocate is total BS.

Thank God saner minds prevailed in WW2 when we faced the Japanese who signed the Geneva Convention and then ignored it. No one complained back then when the Marines took no quarter as they invaded several islands...the Japanese deserved what they got and I am 100% thankful there were no bleeding heart liberals around back then to cry "Unfair!" when the Japanese got what they dished out.

    Fair enough.

If rules don't apply on either side, don't complain when they fly jetliners into buildings.
