This means nothing to the rcmp........They will just arrogantly do as they want..because in their eyes NO one has authority OVER them..................

Dziekanski should have known English. A perfect example of why people should know how to speak one of our official languages before we let them move here.

It's time the RCMP stopped doing city policing. Their just not up to the job.

I doubt it has as much to do with rural policing as it does with simple lack of public accountability in their actions.

Bump up accountability and the thuds in the force will either be weeded out or they'll figure it out.

Fair. This was RCMP in an international airport but I was thinking of Ian Bush in Huston BC, Kevin St Arnaud in Vanderhoof or even the way Cpl. Benjamin Monty Robinson is being handled.
They've been trying to revise and "fix" the RCMP for a number of years and different politicl administrations. I just don't think they can change and the most obviou way is to make the police responcible to the community their policing.

Well there is merit to that. One would think that police living and working in a community for extended periods of time might have a more vested interest there and be less likely to abuse its powers.

I agree. I don't think a BC police force could be worst but that wouldn't matter at an international airport like YVR.

Maybe they could weed them out before they enter recruit school.

Oh yeah, that'd mean raising the standard back up to where it was 25 years ago, which I seriously doubt they'd do, since it might offend alot of minorities and midgets.

Exactly. If we were to get BC cops instead of RCMP but have the same loose accountability we would have the same problem. This is an issue of constant vigilance, your always gonna have a few bad eggs and if there isn't an active and consistent means to ferret them out they just grow bolder with greater numbers.

Nothing ever happens to the RCMP, nothing's gonna happen this time either, My wife and I tried to have an RCMP officer charged with using unnecessary force on our nephew, they sent someone to our house to "explain how they would have a talk with the officer" nothing came from that either. But why didn't the RCMP or the airport find an interpreter for Dziekanski, another perfect example of people doing their jobs to the best of their abilities.
