"Canadian_Mind" said You got a problem with the name of my regiment?
No I love the name, almost as cool as the Vandoo's. Just stating how British we are. You don't get anymore British when you got a regiment called Dragoons.
Actually, aside from Great Britain there are at least 12 other countries with Dragoon regiments in their armed forces. It must be just your own prejudiced view to equate Dragoons with only Great Britain.
Back in the day, Dragoons were mounted infantrymen.
Mounted riflemen, specifically. The name is interchangeable with "Dragon," and they got their name from the dragoon guns they used while mounted in 17th century Europe. I'm assuming they were called "dragon" guns cause of the fire from back powder spitting out the mouth of it.
