WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama's national security adviser offered words of praise Friday for Canada and the Canadian soldiers who have been fighting in Afghanistan for eight years.
But Jones admitted he would have preferred that Canada and other NATO allies hadn't announced a firm withdrawal date from the war-torn country.
I definately don't like the fact that we're leaving before the job is done but the US, and Obama, has a hell of a lot more obligation to see this through to the end. NATO has been proven disfuctional, and that's not the US's fault but They have 3/4 of the fighting folks in country so they do have a lot of pull.
I personally want to see Canadian forces keep on with their training and peacemaking roles because I believe we have a unique and talented blend of the skills nessesary to fight a foreign insurgency. The problem is every death, reguardless of circumstances, will be thrown in the face of the Canadian government for crass political hay.
