Good thing we have those nuclear submarines Mulroney promised with those armed heavy icebreakers Harper promised, they should all come in handy in showing the world the Arctic archipelago belongs to Canada.

    Oh, wait a minute...

Let's not forget the Polar 8.

No kidding. To be fair we can just blame this all on the Liberals, they are the ones who gutted the CF.

Exactly. Because the conservatives didn't cancel the Polar 8 project and the nuclear submarine acquisition program.

Let's not forget Harper's flip flop on his 2006 election promise of heavy icebreakers. He downgraded those 3 heavy armed icebreakers (capable of year round Arctic operations) to 6 medium icebreakers capable of 4-5 months of Arctic operations.

Like I've said since I came to CKA, the blame belongs to everyone, not just the Liberals as some Con supporters here would have us believe, Korbendreck.

no everyone has fallen down IR2 our military. Everyone promises big, then we get half or nothing. It is a friggen disgrace to our nation. How is is possible that we have really NO permimant presence in the arctic?

And no real ability to operate there for long periods of time, this should be pretty basic for a northern nation surrounded by water on three sides!

The worst part is the electorate never holds them accountable either, so each party is free to promise death stars and battlecruisers and anything else knowing it will never have to buy them.
