MONTREAL - Chris already has manly muscles, facial hair, a baritone voice and was accepted years ago by family and friends as a man. But he's been told he cannot work for the Canadian military until he also gets a penis

The CF doesn't have an issue against trans-genders. Hell, they'll pay for the operation if you want it once you're in. My regiment has one such member that exercised the option and "she" is currently serving in Gagetown. This is just like any other elective surgery, or any surgery/medical issue in general. They wont let you in until all the operations and post operations are done.

My understanding is that if they join and after they complete training they want a sex change the CF will pay for it. The problem is she tried to do this while she was in the process of changing her gender.
I dont feel the CF has anything to apologize for.

The reason to join the CF should not be surgery.

Oh fuck yes it should. I don't want bullets flying overhead and buddy beside me doesn't have the balls to start putting rounds downrange himself because he is having gender-related issues.

When you have to rely on people to keep you alive, or in this case are trying to determine if this person can be relied upon to keep others alive, every potential issue is an issue until whatever needs to be done is done.

In this case what needs to be done is a surgery to get a penis attached.

When that surgery is done, "Chris" won't try to join the CF anymore. The only thing "Chris" wants, is a cheap surgery.

As long as she does her duty it doesnt matter to me what she wants out of being in the military. One of the reason why we have problems retention is because the military is thought of as a trade school. Join up for five years learn a trade and get out. This is how the powers that be want to run the organization though.

Most who do join up and get out after their first five years tend to come back after they remember how good they had it in the CF.

both, have had the cold for a month now, but this most recent field ex (why I'm tired) finally tied the knot and I now have a fever of 101.

Kinda surprised I'm tired. slept from 7pm friday till 5pm today. going to bed soon though, expecting to lose at least another 12 to the dreamworld.

Instead of joining the military, he/she should go to work for CSIS. This could be a totally new kind of double-agent.
