B.C. to limit cellphone use while driving

Common sense. It would save a lot of lives, worse is when some idiot wants to send a text tessage.

I would like to see ALL provinces enact, and then strictly enforce such a law. There is one county here which has recently done so, but it doesn't apply to provincial roadways within the county. No word yet as to how that is working out.

I'm trying to cut back on my cellphone usage to 1 cut-off, and 3 "WTF is that driver doing?" per day.

I bought a Bluetooth several years ago while they were quite expensive. Now the same piece of equipment can be purchased at 'Wallyworld' for $59.00.

stupidest rule ever, better take out radios,passengers,crying babies, signs on the side of the roads, big electronic signs, contruction.....alll distractions

We've had that law here in Qu�bec, for cell-phone usage at least, since April last year. I have no idea though on the number of people that have received fines.

I haven't seen a large reduction of people using cell-phones while driving. I think that they enforce the law pretty much only when they stop the driver for another offense or if usage visible affects their driving.

I can't say that I see a lot of people driving dangerously because they're talking on cell phones. Mostly these people lose all respect and courtesy for others while they blab away.

Just enforce the Careless Driving laws. There's no need for a special law just for cellphones. Furthermore, instruct the police to lay criminal Dangerous Driving charges if they cause a collision while chatting/texting. Common sense.

Your post leaves me with the impression that you think that you are capable of safely operating a motor vehicle in traffic or highway speeds while texting???
After only 38 years of driving( no at-fault accidents) I still have not mastered such a skill. Perhaps you could offer myself and others training in such activities!
