Let me guess, his claim was denied. He's not the first and sadley won't be the last that resorts to this kind of action. Problem is that it won't get him anything but a jail cell.

    lol

A guy I work with, we stole from WCB. He knows a bunch of people in the building. I've got servers in many of the buildings around there. Oxbridge, Sterling Place, Centre West . . .

How pissed off do you have to be to walk into a place with a gun? You have to be on your very last option to do something like this. I hope everyone comes out OK.

I'm not trying to start a debate, but has anyone noticed that these hostage standoffs only happen in places where people don't generally carry guns? Why don't these cowardly psychos pull this BS in a police station or someplace like that? They alway pick places where no one will be able to fight back and that makes me want to get my hands on them all the more.

In Canada, that would be 'most everywhere' ;)

I don't think the lack of having people fight back was his motivation. Probably there was something or someone he needed on the 8th floor of WCB. If what he wanted was in a police station . . .he might have gone there instead.

Not that I want that debate either, but this is the first workplace hostage standoff in Edmonton that I can remember (and I've lived in Edmonton for close to 40 years). I'll admit there have been other domestic disputes involving guns in the past decade, but I'll take my chances without everyone walking around with guns.

The days of the Wild West and every idiot wandering around with weapons is thankfully far in the past, at least in Canada.

Know what you mean Bart. Like this incident in Alabama. All those gun toting Alabamians kept a real tragedy from occurring. No hostages were taken.

".....the mans neighbors say he is upset with 'the organization'." Jeez! Ya think???

Having worked as a subcontractor for WCB in Edmonton for several years, I have intimate knowledge of the exact layout of the building. I know exactly which room they are all in and also may know some of the hostages. I can't explain it, but I am having unsettling feelings about this. I sure hope that it all ends peacefully.
