We can kill animals humanely. Why the hell can't we do the same with human beings?

If we want to talk gory executions gone wrong, we need look no further than the last execution performed in Canada. Arthur Lucas was hanged at the Don Jail in Toronto in 1962. Lucas lived for several minutes after he was dropped, despite his head being held onto the rest of his body only by the sinues of his neck. There was blood everywhere. Observers who witnessed it ever forgot what they saw.

Can someone please remind me: what was wrong with a firing squad?

How was that supposed to be more barbaric than electrocution?

It took a great shot for the condemned man's eye(s) to explode with death by firing squad. "Old-sparky" ensured eyeball explosion 100% of the time.
