If we want to talk gory executions gone wrong, we need look no further than the last execution performed in Canada. Arthur Lucas was hanged at the Don Jail in Toronto in 1962. Lucas lived for several minutes after he was dropped, despite his head being held onto the rest of his body only by the sinues of his neck. There was blood everywhere. Observers who witnessed it ever forgot what they saw.
