The mandate of the commission, which has been plagued by delays and controversy, is to probe the assimilation and abuse aboriginal children faced at residential schools across Canada in the 20th century.

A very bad start. You hope the process isn't now so contaminated that it will be valueless. They are going to have to be selective in their witnesses. A couple of years ago the Quebec "reasonable accommodation" commission allowed bigots to testify. I have appeared before a number of such groups and always they have vetted; ie, they want to know beforehand what you are going to say to ensure they are not just letting some crackpot sound off.

It might be a good way for her to get her foot out of her mouth about this "Head of State" issue.

Truth and Reconciliation Commissionmmm has a familiar ring to it. Now where have I heard it before?

Ah, it was a response to the crimes of apartheid by the ANC government in South Africa.

So what is the French Queen telling us? That the residential schools were as a result of Canadian apartheid?
Surely she could have used a term that was not as controversial as anything attached to the apartheid regime? Come on!

This chick is losing my respect daily. I checked her website. She is entitled to wear the CD..you CF guys have to earn that one over 12 years.

When did she spend 12 years in the Canadian Forces? At least the real Queen served in the army during WW2.
Twelve years ago Jean was supping wine with her French hubby chatting with FLQ members.

The more I find out about Queen Jean the more it bothers me.

Ahhh, hope. Is there anything else that causes as much disappointment?
