OTTAWA Spending in the government department supervised directly by Prime Minister Stephen Harper soared by 14 per cent last year, despite a directive from Finance Minister Jim Flaherty that government must "show restraint."

I don't think even riden can find a way to blame this on Iggy and the Libs.

    You know he'll try.........

This is the part that drives me nuts.

Neither Privy Council Office officials nor officials from the Prime Minister's Office were available for comment.

That's become the norm. It's as though they just wish it all away by not responding.

Oh no. Did we move the National canoe museum from Chretien's riding to Calgary?

No actual criticism for Harper wasting more tax payer dollars?

yes, its always a yawn or a non-issue when its the cons. Secret NATO documents with important info misplaced - yawn.

Harper appointed 27 senators in a 6 month span against his own sworn word. - yawn.

Spending out of the PM's office soaring at a time when we are running a huge deficit - yawn.

Harper claims the deficit isn't structural and no tax increase will be needed to fix it. - Good ole conservative government in action.

Iggy says he'll not raise taxes to eliminate the debt and suddenly "why that dirty lying scum trying to trick the public ...."

Financial statements released this week show that spending by the Privy Council Office for the fiscal year that ended in March hit $172.5 million, compared to $151.8 million in fiscal 2008.

Call me crazy, but isn't that almost the same amount as the political subsidy he wanted to eliminate last fall? I guess it's okay for him to blow $22 million or so, but not anyone else.

    Talk about a Harpocrite...

Iggy used his black magic to bewitch Harper.

Harper's just doing his part to stimulate the economy, by stealing tax dollars and injecting them into the economy. As economics, it's as sound as the current Federal budget.
