I'm going to celebrate it like the sabbath....sleep most of the day. It's too hot and I'm not heading all the way to Taipei this year to celebrate and get crispy.

Here's my plan for Canada Day: I'm going to get up at about 4:30am and be on the lake, with a cup of tea and a butter croissant, to watch the sunrise and do a little fishing. I'll come back to the cottage at about 8:00am, just in time to have some breakfast with my two youngest (the oldest of the three is taking mercy on the wife and I by spending 10 days at a summer camp).

So then, my wife will prove her love to me by draggin' the kids outside for a little sand-box, swingset time until about 10am, so I can get a couple of hours of decent sleep. Then the lot of us will go out in the boat for a cruise (weather permitting) and stop off at the marina for a Kawartha Dairy ice cream cone.

Back to the cottage for lunch (my wife makes potato salad with red potatoes and lime; it's just not possible to explain). Then settle in with a book in the hammock and the radio tuned to the FAN590, reading Richard Russo's "Nobody's Fool", hoping for a Blue Jays' victory.

Then it's back to the grill for supper. Ontario barley-fed Hereford steaks and garlic potatoes for supper. Go for a walk and a sit at the beach to watch the sunset and the fireworks with the family. Likely pop a basket of Jiffy pop on the fire and roast a couple of marshmallows for the kids. Watch my daughter jump, afraid, then smile the widest grin as the fireworks spread overhead.

Back to the cottage, kiss the kids and put 'em down, making my best assurance to 3 year-old Alison that the basement monster from home did not make the trip to the cottage. Wink-wink at the wife a bit, take my best shot at a Richard Gere smile, and drift off to sleep with Jeff Beck on the CD player and a cool summer breeze off the lake blowin' through the screen. I'm hoping for the very best day of my life on Wednesday.

I wish you all my sincere wishes for a memorable Canada Day.

The province of Quebec probably counts as abroad when it comes to Canada Day.

Either way, I am going to the many events and celebrations. There are going to be several activities planned. Sure will be fun.

As a proud Canadian, I must attend.

    Happy Canada Day All !!!

We had the roof on the horse barn fixed last week, so tomorrow the wife and I get to clean the stalls inside so the horses can be comfy again without getting dripped on every time it rained.

    Happy Canada day............ :?

Sleeping as late as humanly possible, dicking around, taking a nap, then going in for the night shift. Great fucking Canada day.

    What kind of horses poquas?

Two Quarter horses, an Appaloosa, and a Palomino, plus two that we board for friends and I dont have a clue what they are. The wife is the expert.

Not me. My wife is the horse aficionado.

I really like having them around, but never really got involved (other than smuggling apples and carrots into the barn). I keep asking her to pick up a Clydesdale. I always figured if you really want to make a statement with a horse, thats the way to go. Shes been promising to get me one for the past twenty years. Im not holding my breath any more.
