The military is also drawing up proposals to aid the fledgling Somalia government to train security forces and develop its own coast guard, said the officials, who requested anonymity.

Maybe they could try having a goverment first ?

From what I know, the government that is forming right now is islamist. I guess (and hope!) the military plan is to overthrow the government as well.

Damn those Americans and their unilateral action! They need to get a UN resolution first!

If I was the U.S. I would stay out of it. You just know 10 years from now something will go wrong and they will get the blame for trying to help.

Yes, we all know that the U.S. has never done anything in their history unless oil was involved.

That why the Islamists were in power to begin with. Cheney was bankrolling the very people who ended up being the current pirates in a bid to throw out the Islamists.

Ethiopia Flees From Somalia With Tail Between Its Legs

You might wonder how the Ethiopians ended up with the hopelessno, just plain ridiculousjob of trying to make the Somalis play nice. The fast answer, and I know most people want the 30-second version, is that Ethiopia never saw a land grab it didnt like, and Cheney greenlighted the move because Somalia had fallen into the hands of Islamists.
