I saw this a couple of times on the news today. One of his acquaintances said that 'he likes to go out of bounds when he boards'.
I sure hope he gets a bill for the search and rescue costst as well as a hefty fine. As should happen to ALL who go out of bounds intentionally. Idiot!

Come on lily, 99% of the people rescued from the North Shore mountains aren't really known for their smarts. I don't think any of them are in line to be rocket scientists.

The article does state that he is inexperienced, but on the tv news, his buddy said that he 'goes out of bounds all the time'. Either way, if he did so on purpose, he should get billed for it as well as fined. Maybe then these guys who think that they are such hotshots on the mountain will put a bit of thought into their actions!

This guy managed to stay alive for 3 days. I don't think he's as stupid as you're saying he is.

'I'm' not saying he is stupid. I only repeated what was reported on the news. 'I called him an idiot!'

On the newscast this evening, they also did a bit of an interview with the 'search Captain' he was totally bewildered as to the guys actions as well, as the area in question is one where several people have been killed. Hence the 'Out of Bounds' designation.
I have never been on a mountain in a boarding or skiing area. Are the 'Out of Bounds' areas well marked? If so, then yes, as well as being an idiot, the guy IS stupid!

I was responding to Hyack, but your post got in the middle. :)

I haven't been skiing for years, but yes, the boundaries are well-marked. There's no way you could accidentally stray.

I guess I was a little too quick in response.

And just where the hell did I say he was stupid? I pointed out he was not overly intelligent, nowhere did I state he was stupid, but since you brought it up, and with Yogi's remarks....ya I guess I would consider him stupid, even if he did survive for three days.

    Read your first post lily.

Why did he leave his ID in his vehicle? And why didn't he have his cel phone on him?

He was foolish as hell, and he's goddamned lucky to be alive, getting off the mountain with only some frostbite.

The guy said he saw a second set of fresh tracks - the authorities think there might be a second person up there.
