Staff Sgt. Gord Eiriksson said Tran has been the target of a shooting because of his involvement in a criminal gang.

If it wasn't for the fact that the innocent bystander's safety couldn't be assured I would welcome his release under those circumstances.

"Tran had been held at the Calgary Remand Centre since Jan. 10, when he missed an appeal hearing, because he was deemed a flight risk."

Flight risk? put him in a cage in the baggage compartment.

My favorite bleading heart, judge Wally Opal was on the radio making excuses since nothing has been done since those 6 people were murdered in a gang hit in Surrey last year. He was telling us that quite often, these punks get killed later in some other gang hit. The fact that they got away with murder long enough to be murdered by some other thug didn't bother him. Did he expect that the 3 out of 4 gang murders that go unsolved might not bother the public as long as they could believe that these punks were being gunned down by someone else?
Not me. These folks ned to be caught and brought to justice and if some furious 3rd party wants to shoot them on the way to the courthouse, go ahead... but they must be caught. Simply dismissing this as gangs killing gangs is ignorant, enabling and kills the credability of the justice industry.
