Brandon Crisp, 15, was last seen more than a week ago after fighting with his parents, who revoked his privileges to play the Xbox game "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare."
I have a feeling the kid feels that he is running away for other reasons... had to eat veggies, wanted a new cell phone, parents would give him the 100 bucks for the sweet bong he saw down town.... ect
The really shitty thing is the parents are going to feel like it their fault the brat ran away. It their fault he was spoiled, but thats about it.
Addiction to games is serious business, people actually go through a withdrawal from them. Its an addiction, just like drugs/alcohol, a release from reality. You can be whoever you want to be and talk to whoever you want to. Its a discussion we have been having in the schools about mental health and addiction to video games. There is a huge concern in this area, and just taking the game away doesnt cure the person. There is a site that is for gamers, family, friends and service providers...based in the 12 step fashion, but designed to gamers. It has forums, a test to see if a person has a problem. This is not just for kids, they arent the only ones experiencing this.
This is exactly why I limit my sons playing tiime. We do not allow him to play during the week and he is limited to 3 hours on the weekends. Lets face it though, kids run away all the time because of what they tink is unfair treatment by their parents, let's just hope this case ends well and not in the worst possable way.
