Surrey teen's death prompts call for stricter control of pellet guns

I think we all saw this coming. This is the first death I've ever heard of with a pellet gun. The problem isn't with the pellet guns it's with paretns not supervising thier children. A child cannot buy pellet gun on his own. Every store I've seen that sells them will not sell them to people under 18. Some adult gave these children access to this gun somehow, how is stricter laws going to change this? Interesting article though, it's looking less like an accident and more like stupidity.

I agree, the problem here isnt that the kids had access to a pellet gun, it's that thier parents didn't say "This pellet gun is dangerous and if you ever even point that thing at anyone, I will beat your ass into next thursday with it."

This kind of thing reminds me of an old swimming hole I used to swim in. It had a natural kind of charm that only an old quarry could have. Kids swam in it for at least 3 generations but just s few years ago when I saw it again it was all scarred up with fences and barriers and warning signs. Its now an eyesore because apparently some kid slipped off the edge of the jumping cliff and broke his leg and his parent screamed "won't somebody please think of the children".

Kids need to learn things the hard way sometimes.

Yes it was. Went home one day and saw the damage. Pretty sad.

That sucks. That was an awesome spot.

We used to play war with ours,we had the old mine and a mountainside for a battlefield and would get into some pretty good shooting scraps.Then I got the cooey pump action 177 pellet/bb gun and found that with enough pumps it was about half as powerfull as a 22 at close range.

That was about it for the wars.

I haven't been back to Kingston for years now but it was the last time I saw it. The cliff along the roadside had a large fence put in and there was fencing all around the water with no swimming signs every few feet.

Ditto. None to smart in retrospect but damn fun at the time.

Before we had guns it was the nightly rock fights at the gravel pit.

We would shoot each other with BB guns, one pump rule. But never with a pellet gun. Those things could do some damage!

And we wore motorcross gear, so there was no danger of a BB to the eyeball. Geez we were stupid.

This is the parents fault for sure.
