Young professionals from Chile with two children and speaking decent English, they're also a prime example of Canada's struggle to fix what the immigration industry calls "settlement issues" what happens to immigrants when they get here.

has turned into a real nightmare....

people are so bloody lazy these days.

When my parents immigrated in '67, there was no welcome center,
nor anything else for that matter.

Come, work, learn English/French, get your papers in order,
    assimilate, become a Canadian.

Dont cry if your 3rd world education doesnt actually meet Canadian standards.
Work until it does.. friend of mine immigrated, took her 3 tries to get
her pharma equivalent.. cause her English sucked :)
sorry, work harder at it please..

Engineers with several degrees, languages and experience, they told the Star in 2004 they were considering a lawsuit against the federal government to get back some of the $20,000 spent trying to land decent jobs, a credit rating and health care.

Who the fuck said you would get a job making 120k a year?

And who are these people with such high attitudes of themselves. Canada owes them nothing, if you dont make it here go home.

See what happens when you bring liberals from other parts of the world here, the sense of entitlement isnt just a thing with Canadian liberals, its a sickness that infects a mindset.

OMG, another sob story of immigrants who had their expectations set way too high... We haven't been here in Canada for a year, but we have no problems. Wonder why?
I haven't had English classes here in Canada (don't need them either ;-)), my kids have seen the ESL teacher twice, he didn't have more time, and they are doing fine, hubby has been working with his boss since November without a problem, his creditials are recognized... Its just me that has trouble finding something suitable, but... there is no change in that, since I am demanding. So no complaining.

So, again... If you want to come to Canada, make sure you know what you are going to find. There are lots of people out there to help you, but you have to go there, they won't come to you. Stop whining, get your act together, and work your way up, just as you should have anywhere else.

If I could give up my engineering job to move to another country and get paid more to drive taxi. I would.

And, I'd go to classes and learn their language properly so I could re-enter the engineering job market.

An imigrant that has been here for 10 years and still can't speak properly or work in their original field of experience has obviously been lazy or stupid for 10 years.

Canada is not big on rewarding the lazy and stupid.

Another whiny TorStar article about how bad immigrants are treated.
My own experience when I came here in 1994 was not great, but I got off my arse and after 14 months of low paid jobs I managed to get the job I'm in now.
I had problems just getting my UK education accepted, driving licence etc. Now I'm living the dream.
My standard of living is way better than it would ever be in the UK and my life is easier.

Canada needs more whiners like it needs more taliban fighters.
