I actually heard about this 2 weeks ago. Heard it was going to happen a week or so after they got back from the west coast trip and that Fletcher was stepping in!!!!!

He's been watching Leaf games from behind their net. Both Leaf tenders have the same tan on the back of their neck.

    ROTFL

Class? Maybe, but I still think Ferguson is a pathetic wimp.

Who would stay at a job where your boss made it public it was a mistake to hire in the first place? If Ferguson had one ounce of pride, he would have resigned the day after.

I don't have any sympathy for Junior - he should have resigned as soon as Peddie opened his mouth. Still, Peddie's actions were despicable, but that should be for another thread ;)

As Long as MLSE control the GM like a puppet the situation in Toronto will not get any better!!

Ferguson waited to get fired that way the Leafs have to pay out his contract, if he quit he got nothing!!

The new GM will need to same contract Colangelo got in order to be successful.

I understand that - and it's one of the reasons why I think he's a wimp. I mean, being publicly humiliated but still hang on for money? Just wow!!

Anyway, what is Fletcher suppose to do? It's not going to save the Leafs season, even if he does trade Sundin..

Basically the Leaf ownership has told Leaf fans, better luck next year. JFJ is nothing more than a scape goat and really isn't to blame for any of the Leafs woes. The ownership has to take full responsibility for the projectile vomit that is the mess in Toronto.

I also think that trading Sundin will do nothing to improve the fortunes of the team. Because the rest of the nation is forced to watch Leaf games on Saturday nights, I've watched a fair number of leaf outings. Most nights Sundin is one of the only Leaf giving a full effort, trade him? Maybe get some players that will play with him and again quit looking for a convenient scape goat.

Richard Peddie needs to be next, get the Teachers to hire a real hockey man, someone who'll try and do something with the club.
These are dark days for us Leaf fans..

And I agree about the way JFJ handled it, very classy.
Hopefully this will spur the players in realizing "jobs are on the line" and scare them into thinking that if they don't start playing on a consistent level of good play, that they could be traded to one of the few teams that has an even worse chance at making the playoffs than the Leafs this Season. And I don't think trading Sundin is the answer, although I think the guy deserves a team that can win.

WELLY! WHAT HAPPENED! WHY AREN'T YOU USING THEM MAGIC HANDS!
