I feel sorry for their situation but forgive me if it's nice to see some news that has nothing to do with the fucking virus or Trump.

These guys are taking it on the chin though. :( Triple whammy; Covid-19, oil is in the shitter, and now all 3 rivers that converge on Fort Mac are jammed.

And fire season is only just around the corner! R=EM

I suppose he has to take some responsibility. IIRC, he built in an area called Sapre Creek, that floods all the time.

Sapr is a French word that we use instead of the swear word sacr.

Sort of like fudge instead of fuck.

I wonder is that's the story behind the name of that creek.

Entirely probable. There are several Metis bands in the area, and that whole eastern part of downtown called "Waterways" and the area known as Sapre Creek are completely without homeowners insurance because it's a designated flood plain.

I'd be swearing a lot if my home flooded annually. It's a beautiful place to live though, bordered on one side by untouched Boreal forest, and fast moving water on the other.

Yeah the mayor wanted the military to conduct an airstrike or have engineers blow up the ice dam. After the military and the premier told him that was a dumb idea, he stopped asking for military help.
