I was wondering what the need for an additional 419 year sentence would be but, apparently in Virginia Life doesn't mean life. It means he would have been eligible for parole in 15 years.

Although, given this assholes mental health issues I can see this case getting appealed all the way up to the US Supreme Court. So, we'll likely be hearing about him for alot longer than we should be.

The case will be appealed because the argument to establish intent was based upon the reposting of a meme on social media.

If that is to become a standard for establishing state of mind when someone commits a crime then a whole hell of a lot of people are going to be in trouble.

Of course there will be an appeal. Its a landmark case.

But we were told multiple times around here that he was so scared for his life he had no choice but to floor his car into the crowd! How could that jury, with no very fine people on it apparently, make such a horrible decision?!?!?!?

Take a look at the Scott Peterson case where a man was sentenced to die because Nancy Grace whipped up a massive hysteria over the guy.

That's another case that should be overturned on appeal.

Is this the new Infowars angle, that there was someone else behind the wheel of the car? Or that the "Antifa" in the counter-protestors somehow faked the entire thing?

Are these the kind of people you really want to go to bat for, these silly little boys doing cosplay Nazi chic, the kind who say they're all spoiling for a fight yet very few were brave enough to join the military (like you did) and risk going into a real battle somewhere?

These people are beneath you, Bart. They don't deserve your defense of them. One day you'll see it all for what it really is and what they really are.

I am not defending him but I am also not supporting the notion that we get to convict people of whatever the fuck we want to accuse them of simply because we don't like them as a person.

Equal protection before the law is not just a slogan to me.

Why is there this automatic assumption that the jury either fucked up, was pursuing a political agenda of their own, or was corrupted by being exposed to media coverage about Charlottesville? :?

If I accused the guy of raping your little sister I have no doubt that I could get a conviction because he's a racist, a white supremacist, a Nazi, a big meanie, he has tattoos, and etc.

I'd probably not even need to prove that you have a little sister.
