The Wall Street banksters would tell you that they appreciate your support but they're busy foreclosing on people who don't owe them any money.

"GM Canada is ceasing all operations in Oshawa, ON, the "trusted" media is getting $595 million, what Trudeau is doing to Canada!"

And if they are only generating a billion a year in tax revenue, did it save us anything?

They're also closing plants in Ohio, Michigan, and Maryland. So I guess Trump is to blame for those right?

The gov't should buy the plant and keep building Studebakers!
Oops, I meant Impalas. Nobody wants those either.

Doug Ford says nothing can be done. Albertans ahould elect someone like that who can just shrug off the oil industry!

Why? No one shrugs off the oil industry like a Trudeau.

He's correct. The writing's been on the wall for many years.

    This from 2014...

An automotive consultant is raising concerns about the future of General Motors manufacturing in Canada, predicting that production at General Motors Oshawa will completely shut down in 2019.

The Oshawa facility has already seen the closure of its truck assembly plant and the consolidation of its two car assembly plants in recent years.

Assembly of the Chevrolet Camaro at the plant is slated to end in 2015, while assembly of the Chevrolet Impala and Equinox on the consolidated line, originally slated to end this year, is slated to end in 2016. A flex line, launched in 2008, continues to make the Cadillac XTS, the Buick Regal and a new Impala.

I feel bad for the employees who thought they had a future for their families and found out the hard way that they don't. Damn tragedy is what it is, that doesn't deserve the same sort of smirking remarks aimed at those people the same way those same types of comments from far too many Canadians were aimed at Alberta workers when the oil price was deliberately sabotaged by the Saudis.

    That is all. :|

EDIT: actually, I'll double-down on this just to be that annoying truth-telling voice that won't shut up. The collapse in the oil & gas sector is a leading cause of the recent woes in the auto sector. With every job lost in the West and every company that's been shut down means that many fewer vehicles of any sort, from fleet vehicles to personal purchases by those "arrogant Albertans who should have saved their money instead", according to the self-righteous scolds, didn't happen. So that's Ontario's bottom line getting clobbered by an economic disaster in the West, just like an innocent bystander in a drive-by shooting, a disaster that a large part of this increasingly moronic country's population thinks was a hilarious and well-deserved come-uppance for those who got too big for their britches.

See what happens when a country not only works against itself but when it actively cheers for harm to come to each other? The Americans might hate each other based on race, religion, and politics but even they don't want to see entire parts of their country get flushed down the toilet by economic disasters the same way that large numbers of Canadians apparently do. There's an obvious lesson to be learned here, and it won't be learned by enough people, because the ancient and traditional patterns of peevishness and pettiness are too deeply engraved into this country's soul.
