Erik Guay, one of Canada's most decorated alpine skiers, has decided to walk away from the sport effective immediately.

Good for him for recognizing where his head's at and walking away.
A lot of pressure to keep competing I'm sure.

Been there done that. The surest sigh of youth is that you don't understand consequences.

I used to do 100+ km/h with a pair of sticks strapped to my feet, and loved every minute of it. Till my girlfriend/fiancee wiped out doing a Giant Slalom, hit the trees and tore her ACL and dislocated a shoulder. Without a helmet, she'd have been Michael Schumacher.

That's when 'consequences' set it, and we both just started skiing recreationally again.
