The comments section was a real treat. I have to cop to my own increasing radical barbarism though. The only comment that made sense to me was basically "why is it wrong to threaten to shoot a paid-for politician when they go along with their wealthy masters agenda that badly harms the rest of us?". :|

Just demonstrates the growth of extremism and intolerance in the US. Insane people in both camps, and their numbers seem to be growing.

After reading things like this, I wish like hell that Trump would build his wall along the Northern border so, when the inevitable American civil war comes we can isolate ourselves from the carnage. To bad the far to few sane people left in that country are going to be caught up in the insanity that their politics have become.

The good news is with the obesity epidemic, we'll only have to build the wall about hip high.

Judging from the posts on CKA that evidence a blind hatred of anything conservative I'd say you folks aren't far behind.

When a conservatism deserving of respect comes back it'll be greeted with open arms. Until then, as long as it's dedicated almost entirely to making the rich even wealthier and to encouraging conspiracy-theory goofiness, it can stay far enough away.

No, it won't. If your ideal conservative were elected President in the USA the Democrats and the loony left would still be out howling for his/her impeachment, recall, execution, and etc. just like they're doing with Trump.

And just like with Trump they'd viciously hate the person and not be able to articulate a single tangible reason as to why.

Judging from your posts, there's clear evidence of blind hatred for anything on the left....even those associated with those on the left are within range of fire.

I wouldn't equate anything Trump to conservatism.

Nope. I never felt this way about any president until Trump. I got plenty pissed off at Bush as the Iraq debacle got worse and worse. And I regard pretty much all of Reagan's economic legacy as a complete disaster that's essentially destroyed most of the American (and world) working class as well as too much of the middle class. But those are just policy differences. I never did and still don't regard them as obscene, corrupt, or depraved men. Flawed to be sure, as any human is. But just rotten in the way that Trump has clearly shown himself to be over his entire lifetime? No, not in the slightest. I've never felt such visceral antipathy based simply on the confirmed knowledge of his absolutely horrible personality, character, and mentality of any leader as I have about Trump. It's because he's a genuinely awful person in every sense of the word and NOTHING good ever comes from a bad person.

Some of his policies in the hands of someone less horrible I'd have not much problem with. Trump though is simply such an obnoxious oaf that he can take a good policy and render it unsupportable just from his own innate awfulness. Take the importance of the struggle against Islam and think of it this way - should a crusade this important against an enemy that rotten be put in the hands of someone who equals them in terms of vileness and depravity? Don't you expect your leaders to be the much better people, ones that have the moral gravitas on their side that entitles them to lead? If you don't you should, and making excuses for someone like Trump in a battle like that does nothing but undermine the value of what you claim you're trying to save from the forces of darkness.

I probably won't like President Mike Pence very much, just because it will continue too much of the economic cruelty that the GOP is remarkable for, as well as too many other crazed Ayn Rand sort of policies. The intensity of the opposition though, from me anyway, will decline by at least a half when he eventually gets sworn in though.
