These birds are among the most unwanted creatures I have ever seen.

I can think of dozens of other species I'd rather see culled (or flat out exterminated).

I like some of the comments...
$1:
...these birds were here long before us!!!! back off!!!!!
The natives were killing them and so did the white man as soon as he came here. So why not continue doing so?

$1:
Now I read this sad story that people of New Brunswick want to kill some of these magnificent, intelligent birds.
Intelligent??? WTF! 8O

Geese (regardless of nationality ;-)) are the most annoying and obnoxious birds I know. They are a pain, there are too many, they attack for no damned reason, they are dirty and serve no purpose at all.
Seagulls are a good second, btw.

These birds should be controlled by predators. The problem here is that when they decide to settle in towns and cities, the predators don't follow (or we don't let them follow). The combination of lots of food and no predation leads to out of control populations. Either we let predators in, or WE become the predators.

Hmmm, methinks there is a little difference between seals and geese.
But hey, we eat pork so we must dislike pigs, we eat salmon, so we must dislike fish, we eat beef, so we must dislike cows.

We don't eat geese, they are a pain. You can have them, as far as I am concerned, and have your kids attacked by them for no apparent reason, other than the sandwich in their hand.

Seagulls are protected in BC - presumably they serve a purpose. As, I'm sure do geese. But if they flood a city, steps have to be taken. Border collies seem to work pretty well w/o killing. But jeez, don't they have homeless in town they can feed them to?

I'm pretty sure they are protected in Ontario too.

Don't ask me why, I haven't got a clue. They don't seem to do much aside from shitting on my car.

Nope. In most places, scavenger birds like Gulls, Crows and Ravens - are all protected. You might be surprised by how much *yuck* they clean up.

I like them plenty, but I don't like when their populations bloom out of control and risk the well-being & safety of populations of other species because there's too many of them.

$1:
Now, they're facing an online petition and a Facebook group called Save the Geese.

I should make an online petition and facebook group called "Save the Tree Hugging Idiots from their own Damn Stupidity and Cull them First."
