Scape Scape:
Let me ask you, do you keep your saving in a mattress? Money is based on trust as well, we don't have a gold standard there either yet the economy doesn't crash because you bounce a check.
Servers have back ups. They will get their email in time but SNAFUs can happen but if you were to store it local and you had a fire, then what? Your screwed.
I don't pay anything to use GMail, but I pay the bank every month just for the privilege of using their services. I agreed to the free GMail terms of service which says they make no guarantee about my mail. I think it's great, but I keep backups of my mail. I thought I'd mention it to save others the heartache.
If there's a fire that destroys my house and Google's servers at the same time then I'm screwed. Otherwise I'll just download it again.
