Could just end the war on drugs and sell heroin and coke at production cost of about a dollar a point in the drug store.

It would really cut down on the theft addicts have to do, it would make drug dealers cry and it would make serious narcotics a lot less cool.

Can't go on two fronts. Germany tried two times and failed. Either stop with the Canadian/U.S wall border or concentrate on the more dangerous area. Take your pick or do both and waste billions.

Canada's clearly the more dangerous border because that's where the 9/11 terrorists crossed over.

Yes, far too many of them are that goddamn dumb.

This is the real war the Glen becks, Palinist and other loons need to be fighting. The Mexicans and South American drug cartels which is a real war and active threat and over the decades have cost thousands of lives and billions of dollars.

The thing is DD, the only ways to combat it are A) Draconian laws (not gonna fly in the west) or B) Full legalization with controlled production of certain drugs going to pharmaceutical companies.(not much chance of that happening either).
When you can effectively take away the drug producers profits, you take away their motivation.
When the US stupidly introduced prohibition, there were a LOT of alcohol turf wars. Since it's been repealed, I can't think of any alcohol based turf wars.
Alcohol fueled maybe, but not over turf "rights".

Personally I am totally Anti Narco and wouldn't mind draconian laws but they are also not 100% effective in a such a small place like the UAE, including draconian laws there are still drugs around. Although its not a major or serious problem here. But they still exist.

Legalising would have its benefits but then wouldn't everyone be high all the time. Now many might be thinking about drugs but never get involved due oto the possible legal implications. Although that would finish the demand for the illegal trade and all the crime with comes with it.

Well, alcohol is legal and everybody isn't drunk all the time so I have grave doubts that would happen

But yer right, it would all but kill the illegal drug trade, which would definitely have major negative effects on organized crime since it gets a large portion of its funds from the drug trade.
It's win/win. Simple users don't get criminal records, and the gov't gets to double end the deal by getting tax income from the drug sales while no longer spending insane amounts of money to fight the war on them.

I entirley agree. The US/Canadian border wall is the most idiotic thing I heard of. It irritates the hell out of me and insults many Canadians. A wall like that may work with Mexico where we have some real problems.

If drugs were legal would you be high all the time? Your friends and family? Alcohol is legal in the US - most people aren't drunk all the time.

It's not a physical wall, but I miss the very open open borders before 9-11. In the "old" days the border in many places was as open as going from US State to US State. These days are a lot different. One is now very feel aware of crossing an International Border.

In the back of your mind you knew you were crossing a border, but it didn't feel like a border. I fell a kinship with Canada the new borders policies clash with that a bit.

Meh, I used to cross over to Detroit for years before 9/11. The fuckers there sure made sure you knew it was an international border
