I can't really see a lot of people coming out to vote yes to a tax. But basically I see this as referendum on Gordo - so I'll be voting no unless something really drastic happens between now and then.

Agreed, that is if we get to a referendum.

Despite the assurances from the Goof,(typo) I mean Good Premier, that this referendum will be binding, given his past propensity for decieving the public I'm not holding my breath.

I really think that Billy wooden shoes and company should recall a couple of the Lieberal MLA's just to set the tone for this upcomming referendum.

But by some slim chance If Campbell survives to be the Premier till the Referendum, I can see people voting in droves just to drive a nail into his coffin.

Hey, ya gotta give props to the ppl of BC. Unlike the sheep here in Ontario that have not only willingly bent over, but spread their ass cheeks to facilitate easier entry.

You guys have a lot less to complain about. McGuinty gave lots of notice that he would introduce the HST. Campbell said he would not introduce HST just before an election, brought it in right after the election - an outright lie. Also, you guys get rebates for a single person earning 80k a year - way too generous in my book. In BC, the bar is set somewhere in the very low 20's - way too low in my book. Should be around 36k for a single person I would say. But mostly it's about the lying. I'm willing to believe it's a better tax, but a govt that lies that shamelessly has got to go. Hey hey, ho ho, Gordon Campbell has got to go. (Takes me back to the good old days.)

I still think the energy should be put towards Lowering the HST rather than eliminating it. Otherwise it will just revert back to 2 different Sales Taxes with all its' penalty to certain Businesses(not that there are none for the HST) and inefficiencies.

I would rather keep it where it is, but raise the basic income tax exemption. That way lower income earners would get more of a benefit. Supposedly VAT taxes are much better than income tax, and I'm willing to swallow that cool aid.

I hear that the campbell government is trying to schedule a referendum a full year out, so they can continue to collect taxes fr a whole year. Since they've already collected for a year, 1 year of not collecting would give the tax payers 1 year of each before the referendum.
