The French likely did just that a month or so ago when a pirate ship mistakenly attacked their flagship. The French warship, replete with cutting edge side scanning radar, night vision, and 24/7 orbiting UAV coverage reportedly "lost track" of the pirate ship after the French warship returned fire. Right.

Translation: The French either blew the pirate ship out of existence in one shot or they holed it, let it sink, and left any survivors to tell their tale to the sharks.
