The Conservative party simply not right wing enough for Albertans?

In Canada, anything too far off to the right stands no chance at the federal level.

Stelmach is going to be screwed if any of his PCs jump ship. If not, he might survive the leadership review next month.

In this case, it doesn't matter, this is a provincial party. And remember, Albertans had a Social Credit government (far more right wing the the PCs) for over almost 40 years before the PCs took over in the 70s.

Gay marriage and pro-choice are right wing principles for sure. They're just not big-c Conservative principles. That's because the CPC isn't a right-wing party. That's a fundamental misconception. Those of us TRULY on the right aren't anything like the CPC or Republican party. We love individual liberties and freedoms, like the freedom to marry whomever you want.

Most Albertans want a conservative party in charge, not a statist, complacent, and self-rewarding party like the PC's have morphed into since Klein's last term in office. The Stelmach gang is too incompetent and far too obtuse to remain in power for much longer.

I prefer the word liberal, with a small "l".

It's interesting that this ultra right wing party leader received 75% of the vote. She beat the guy who was supposed to be a Right Winger.

Leadership Vote - Results
I know everyone has eagerly been awaiting the numbers.

Total ballots sent out, just over 11,600.

Total ballots cast 8297; so roughly 71.5 % voter turnout.

Smith 6295

Dyrholm 1905

Spoiled ballots 97

Big thank you to the 20+ volunteers who put in a long day and were unable to take part in the events of the day.

If anything it shows that Albertans are not extreme ultra-right wingers because Smith is a moderate fiscal conservative and Dyrholm was rejected becasue of his links to Craig Chandler's hard-right wing PGIB.

Way to go, Wildrosers, tell the liberals and the fringers on the right to both fuck off at the same time! 8)

"Libertarian" isn't left/right. It's up/down. One can be both conservative, and libertarian.
