WTF is wrong with teens these days. Parents need to really step in and take charge.

I don't think parents realize their child is a cutter. Aside from a former cutter as a child what parent would suspect it? They'd be more worried about the usual stuff liek drinking, drugs, unprotected sex. Cutter is just so WTF that its not on the dradis.

Taking charge wont do it, these are kids that need intense therapy and wont get it until they are a risk to themselves or others. Cutting, self mutilation is a release of pain and very private for these kids. The emotional pain they are experiencing is so intense the only way to overcome it for a brief moment is to inflict severe physical pain. Majority of youth and adults that self mutilate are products of varying degrees of abuse. Many are products of the foster care system and a non existant familial component.

Btw...this is nothing new

No, I am not surprised at all. It is nothing new...
But, TG, it is not just kids with non existant families. Growing up is tough, and some kids just can't handle it. What I mean is, that kids with normal parents and normal families do it too.

Its more common than you think Hyack...Parents are the last ones to know because self mutilation is so easily hidden.

The question is not if they know, but if they care. No, they don't, they want to solve their problems (or distract themselves). Of course it is not a solution, you know it, I know it, but to them, it might be.
